Staking rewards have been distributed. ✨

Vortex tokens, The Root Network's reward token, have now been sent to those who helped secure the network in the last reward cycle.

Throughout the reward cycle Gas & Network Fees and the networks Bootstrap Incentive are added to The Vortex. At the end of the reward cycle, these rewards are distributed in the form of Vortex tokens to network participants.

Vortex tokens represent a corresponding percentage of the tokens in The Vortex, currently XRP, ROOT, SYLO & ASTO. Unwinding functionality is coming soon.

What happens at the end of The Root Network’s first 90 day reward cycle?

Your staking rewards, in the form of Vortex tokens, will be viewable within your FuturePass. Distribution will be in the days following the completed reward cycle.
Cycle one ends November 19th PT.

What are Vortex tokens?

Vortex tokens are The Root Network’s staking reward token.

At the end of each reward cycle, the protocol determines how many new Vortex tokens to mint. These are based on the Bootstrap Rewards, Gas and Network Fees collected during the cycle. The new Vortex tokens are then distributed as rewards for participation.

Your Vortex tokens can be held, traded or unwound to release a corresponding percentage of tokens that are in The Vortex. This is currently a combination of XRP, ROOT, SYLO & ASTO.

What happens to my staked ROOT at the end of a cycle?

The short answer is, nothing. At the end of each cycle your $ROOT remains staked, that is unless you decide to unstake. There is a 28 day unbonding period and this applies regardless of the era or cycle.

Introducing the Futureverse Asset Registry

Yesterday we launched the Cut & Style update to Muhammad Ali - The Next Legends, which allows people to switch up their hairstyle, hair color, and pose on their TNL Boxers. On the surface, this is a fun update which allows for greater customisation of avatars, but under the hood, it's the first use case of our new Asset Registry, a key tool in our platform and part of the updated direction for the new Sylo protocol.

The Asset Registry is a new ledger system that functions similarly to layer 2 distributed ledger technologies (DLTs). It has been designed with a primary focus on managing asset relationships. It brings a blockchain-like transaction experience but with off-chain DLT performance. This is a crucial piece of technology for building an open and interoperable metaverse.

Quest 003 - The MARK ROOT Rewards 🔑

Congrats Questers, those of you who have completed Quest 003: The MARK will see some shiny new ROOT has just landed in your FuturePasses.

Please note, the 100 ROOT bonus for completing a trade in MARK is still being finalised and should be distributed in the next 48h. Additionally, the "completed" status will also start to display within this timeframe.

Why didn’t I receive any ROOT rewards?
If you did not complete all the steps in the Quest, you are not eligible for ROOT rewards.

Additionally, ROOT rewards for completing Quests are dictated by your FutureScore. If your FutureScore is 0, you will not receive any ROOT even if you completed the Quest. Currently the only way to increase your FutureScore is by owning Futureverse collectibles. There will be other opportunities to increase your FutureScore in the near future.

If you are certain you successfully completed all the steps in the Quest, and have a FutureScore greater than zero, then please #🎫・open-a-ticket and our lovely support team will help you out. Be sure to include as much information as possible to help our support team with their investigations.

Why is the ROOT reward for Quest 003 less than the reward for Quest 001?
The incredibly large ROOT rewards associated with Quest 001 are the exception, not the rule, for Quest rewards. We cannot send out 1% of the entire supply of ROOT for every Quest, but you can expect to see at least 4 more Quests before the end of the year.

UPDATE

We are pleased to announce that The Root Network and all associated services are now back up and running normally. Although no one plans to fail, it’s been a good exercise to put our incident response plans in play so we can tick another box in the ALPHA phase of The Root Network.

We will publish an incident report next week to outline the cause of the outage, the steps we took to resolve it, and our learnings from the experience.

Please note, in light of this outage and the long weekend in New Zealand, ROOT rewards for Quest 3 will now be distributed on Monday 23rd PT / Tuesday 24th NZT.

With this important update now complete, we can’t wait to show you what we have in store for the future of The Root Network as we move towards our public BETA phase.

UPDATE

We are working on an extended maintenance period for The Root Network as a result of a planned upgrade taking longer than expected. There appears to be a bug which was not evident in the test network deployment.

The Root Network is currently in open ALPHA mode and we are making some final changes to prepare the network for public BETA, including community validator nodes as well as the launch of several new applications and experiences on TRN.

Part of the changes we have made in this update have been as a direct result of feedback and insights we have had during our recent quests on TRN we appreciate your support in helping us make The Root Network stronger.

As The Root Network is still in ALPHA this kind of thing is expected as we move a little faster than we would in BETA and beyond.

Our team are still diligently working to resolve the outage and will provide updates accordingly.

Dear Stakers 🥩

Thanks to the support from our community member @​fn00eu, we realise that many Nominators may not realise that they are currently staking against an oversubscribed Validator, and as such are not receiving any rewards. Specifically, Validator 1 is oversubscribed by 120 Nominators, meaning these 120 people are not currently earning rewards.

What do I need to do?

Anyone who has staked less than 1,335 ROOT and has nominated to Futureversenode1 may want to consider changing their nominations to one or more other Validators. There are currently 120 FuturePass owners that are not earning staking rewards.

• You can check your nominations by logging into the Staking Dashboard and scrolling down to “Your Nominations” - if you’re nominating an oversubscribed Validator you will see an “Oversubscribed” notification in the “Number of Nominators” column


• When you are selecting new Validator(s) to nominate, check the “Number of Nominators” column and choose one or more Validators that have less than 256 Nominators if you want to maximize staking rewards (currently Node 1 is the only oversubscribed Validator)

Please note

• If you are Nominating Node 1 and have staked more than 1,334.65 ROOT you are currently earning staking rewards, however this can change if another user with a larger stake nominates to this node.


• We (the Futureverse team) cannot advise you which Validator(s) to nominate your stake to, only that you are not likely to earn rewards for your stake if you nominate to an oversubscribed validator.


• Changing your Nominations are not instant. When you submit the request to change Nominators, it will not take effect until the 3rd era (each era is 24h) after submitting your request (this is a function of all Substrate based networks, not just TRN):
  
  
  • 1st Era (current) submits request to the chain
  
  
  • 2nd Era submits request to the validator network
  
  
  • 3rd Era the request is actioned


• Changing Nominators is an on-chain transaction, you will need XRP to pay for GAS.

With last week’s updates to the Staking Dashboard we have improve the UI to help you identify which Validators are oversubscribed. We are continuing development and improvement of this Dashboard to include more metrics in future, such as showing whether or not you are in the top 256 Nominators for an oversubscribed Validator, what the minimum ROOT threshold is to earn rewards, etc.

Staking Dashboard Update

As you know the Buidl-ing never stops here at Futureverse, and as part of our ongoing development, we've updated The Root Network staking dashboard.
After careful consideration of the feedback we've received since launching the Staking Protocol, we’ve made these changes to improve the user experience and overall accuracy of the information.
With all that in mind, we are adding three new input metrics that provide a clearer picture of your share of rewards from staking, work points, and Bootstrap rewards.
These metrics replace Share of Pool and Estimate Vortex Token Rewards metrics. Both of these were confusing and volatile, causing uncertainty and angst amongst the community.

The New:

• Share of Staking rewards for the current Cycle - Your accumulated Staking points are displayed as a percentage of the total Staking points accumulated during the current Cycle by all staking participants.
• Share of Work Points for the current Cycle - Your accumulated Work points are displayed as a percentage of the total accumulated Work points during the current cycle (you must Nominate your staked ROOT to earn a share of Work points).
• Bootstrap Rewards during the current Cycle - You earn ROOT tokens based on your participation level. This is added to The Vortex at the end of the reward cycle and paid out in VORTEX rewards. Refer to the Tokenomics diagram for more information.

The Old:

Share of Pool: 
• This metric, which was partially based on the metrics of the input mentioned above, was poorly labeled and aggregated too much information, which has caused confusion in the community. As such we’ve deemed it more valuable to share the new input metrics directly.
Estimated Vortex Token Reward: 
• This was combining the input metrics and using the fees collected during the reward cycle to estimate VORTEX rewards at the end of an era.
• As many in the community noticed, this metric can be volatile. This volatility is based on the tokens collected during the reward cycle, and as such the estimate can move up or down unexpectedly based on factors beyond The Root Network. The two things that are important to focus on are the fees collected during the reward cycle (available on the landing page) and your input metrics. We will now wait for the end of the reward cycle to calculate your VORTEX rewards and distribute them.

2. If applicable, link your wallets with Futureverse Collectibles.


3. Click the ‘Generate’ button and your score will appear.

Should you complete this Quest by Aug 8 4pm PT, you'll be rewarded with the greatest treasure of all, ROOT.

Your FutureScore acts as a multiplier for the rewards you earn, so the total ROOT you receive from completing The Score will depend on the score itself.

Are you planning on making the FutureScore calculation public?
No, the details in how this is calculated is proprietary. Your FutureScore is calculated based on things like the type of assets you hold, the number of assets you hold, how long you have held them, the rarity of those assets, the activities those assets have been involved with, along with other contributions players have made to growing the ecosystem, such as social media activity.

Can I still join the challenge if my assets are stored on a Ledger?
Yes. If you have signed on to FuturePass with a Ledger then these collectibles have been registered against your FuturePass.

Coinbase wallet support
Users who have initially logged in to their FuturePass via Coinbase will not be able to use Coinbase to link an address or combine FutureScores. This is a limitation of the Coinbase wallet software, however, we are working on a solution.

Merging accounts
In the future, we will introduce the ability for you to merge multiple FuturePasses into one. This will shut down any additional FuturePasses you have and merge all your assets into one single FuturePass. For now, however, you can link multiple FuturePasses together to generate one combined FutureScore.

1. Muhammad Ali - The Next Legends Pro Boxer holders will be able to complete this challenge by bridging one boxer from Ethereum to The Root Network.

3. From your Stuff page, click on the bridge icon to move one TNL Pro Boxer to The Root Network.

After our launch of the first The Root Network challenge yesterday, we’ve received great feedback from the community and have prepared some FAQs for @everyone to address the key questions.

❓ What is the current challenge?
This first The Root Network x The Next Legends challenge is an opportunity for people who tested our DOT mixer technology when minting their TNL Pro Pack to earn a $ROOT token reward.

❓ How do I complete the challenge?
If you haven’t created a FuturePass, visit https://futurepass.futureverse.app/ and activate your FuturePass using the wallet you used to participate in the TNL mint. If you already have a FuturePass, log in via https://futurepass.futureverse.app/.

Once you’re in the dashboard, you should see the pop-up saying you’ve completed the TNL challenge. You don’t need to do anything more.

You will not receive your $ROOT tokens immediately; they will be distributed on the 8th of May US / 9th of May NZ.

Please note that Chrome is the preferred browser for FuturePass.

❓ How long is this challenge open for?
This first challenge closes on the 8th of May US / 9th of May NZ, at which point the first $ROOT tokens will be distributed.

❓ What happens if I don’t take any action before the challenge closes?
If you don’t log into the FuturePass dashboard before the challenge closes on the 8th of May US / 9th of May NZ, you will forfeit your potential rewards for this challenge.

❓ How much $ROOT can I earn?
100 $ROOT for every TNL Pro Pack minted.

❓ What can I do with my $ROOT tokens?
We will be releasing the ability to stake $ROOT tokens to secure The Root Network and earn additional rewards very soon. We are also working on a marketplace to allow you to buy and sell assets using $ROOT, a DEX (decentralized exchange) to allow trading of $ROOT for other tokens, and token bridging to allow you to bridge your tokens back to the Ethereum network. More details on these product rollouts will follow shortly.

❓ I minted my TNL Boxer with one wallet but have since transferred it to another. Which wallet do I use?
Your $ROOT reward is linked to the wallet used for minting.

❓ I sold my TNL Boxer already. Can I still participate?
Yes, you will still be rewarded in this challenge for participating in the mint. However, you won’t be able to participate in future TNL challenges to earn rewards without owning the relevant assets.

❓ I bought my TNL Boxer on secondary after the mint. Can I still participate?
Not for this challenge. The first rewards are for those who tested our DOT mixer technology when minting their TNL Pro Pack. However, Pro Boxers that were bought on the secondary market will be able to participate in the upcoming bridging challenge.

❓ I have TNL Boxers across multiple wallets. Can I merge them all into one FuturePass?
The next major release for FuturePass will give you the ability to link multiple different wallets to a single FuturePass. In the meantime, if you minted Pro Boxers using multiple wallets, then you’ll have to set up a FuturePass for each.

❓ Why is this called a “challenge”?
We’re asking the community to help us with tasks on our network, and as a reward for completing these tasks, we’re giving them $ROOT tokens. These first challenges are very simple and help us test the rollout of our new tools, as well as the challenge framework itself. Over time, challenges will take multiple different forms, and some will be much more challenging.

❓ What other challenges are coming?
The second The Root Network x The Next Legends challenge will allow users to unlock additional $ROOT rewards by bridging their TNL Pro Boxers to The Root Network. This challenge will launch after the first challenge closes on the 8th of May US / 9th of May NZ. More details on this will follow soon.

There will be plenty of other challenges and opportunities to unlock $ROOT tokens in the near future.
