Hello @everyone! I wanted to provide everyone with a few updates to outline the future of Bored Box:

-Bored Box is scaling down, but sticking around. We started with broad ambitions to be a retailer for web3 blockchain games. That included building a 5 person team and raising money from notable investors to accomplish that goal. As many of you know, the state of the gaming market has not grown as fast as many of us predicted back in 2021. While the recent mini-bull run in gaming tokens is exciting, it is not a reflection of actual playable games. As such, that line of business has not proven to be viable in the near future. With that in mind, we are closing the Bored Box store, and all activity will be centralized here on Discord moving forward. With the store shutting down, we don't see any viable future for Boredom points. I apologize for this miscalculation. Obviously Boredom is not a currency and it was obtained by everyone for free, but nonetheless the program was a promise we couldn't deliver on, and I own that error.

-This remains a club. The Discord will remain open as a place to share game news, find fellow players to try new games, and for me to announce any hookups and free items that games are offering to influential gaming groups in the space. Candidly the volume of playable quality games (that I've been willing to indirectly endorse) hasn't been massive this year, but as that changes, I'll keep everyone posted here. Giveaways will happen sporadically and be executed through simple random typeforms, with items being delivered manually by me.

-I (Bored) will act as the solo lead here. My friend @​subtle_rebuttal is moving on to his next adventure and this makes sense as we scale things down a bit. I will be the primary point of contact and continue working to obtain special access/items for this community as they come my way. Please be patient if I take a bit longer to respond here on Discord, but know that I'll be checking-in frequently. As you'll see on Twitter I'm sure, I'm also going to be spreading my time across many ventures. I will treat this place as a special permanent club where we all occasionally see each other.

-Future of Bored Box NFTs. Genesis, B64s (all opened with items delivered now), and Cartridges will continue to live on in the decentralized web as both collectibles and access cards to specific channels on the server. No more will ever be created. Hopefully those of you who have been here since the early days have benefited from the very long list of free game items we've brought the group since our inception. We're most proud of that over the last 18 months. Remaining opened boxes held by Bored Box will go into my possession. I will continue seeking ways to reward owners as I expand my endeavors.

Discord Communities are Getting a Safety Buff 🦺

Today, we're rolling out three new features that will help you keep your communities safe from DM spam and raids: Activity Alerts, Security Actions, and a revamped Members page.

Activity Alerts and Security Actions

Activity Alerts will notify you of abnormal server behavior, particularly massive raids or unusual DM activity. From there, your team can investigate further and take further action to protect your community as necessary. If it doesn’t seem like an issue, you can easily mark it as safe.

Security Actions allow swift server lockdowns by surfacing useful tools quicker, helping halt new member joins or aiding in closing off DMs between non-friend community members. Current Security Actions include:

• Pause Invites: Stop new members from using any invites to join the server. Experienced moderators may know this one already, and now it’s more easily accessible.


• Pause DMs: Temporarily stops new DMs from being sent between members in the server. This excludes friends DMing each other, when moderators DM server members, or DMs from Apps.

Members Page

Previously tucked away in Server Settings, the Members page is used to find specific members, display members with a specific role, and even help you prune inactive members.

Now, the Members page is in a more easily-accessible spot above your server’s channel list. And it’s been reimagined, letting you view your members in a more organized manner. It now displays relevant safety information about your members:

• Join Date: See when they joined your server.


• Invite Link: See which invite link they used to join your server.


• Account Age: See if they’ve been on Discord for a while or are a new user.


• Signals: Appears if someone may have been engaging in unusual DM Activity, or flags a member you’ve timed out. Use this to easily filter and find members who might require additional action or review. Over time, we plan on surfacing additional relevant Signals.

All of these new features work in tandem to provide mods with the helpful information and actions needed to help squash DM spam and thwart raids. We’re committed to improving safety on Discord by empowering and equipping mods with more tools to help protect your servers from harmful disruptions. It’s a never-ending journey, so stay tuned—the best is yet to come!

Cartridges! Every box owner was just airdropped one Cartridge per box owned (note Cartridges are on Polygon). For the OGs in our community, you'll notice the design of these items is similar to the small device that plugs into our Genesis and B64 boxes.

Each Cartridge features a screen that displays our rendition of famous scenes in classic gaming. The NFT itself will accumulate Boredom (less than a box earns) at various rates based on the Cartridge's edition. Accordingly, they will be offered for sale at a lower and more accessible price on boredbox.io/drops. Today you'll find them listed at 0.02 ETH each, or a collector's pack of 5 for 0.08 ETH.

Server Guide is a dedicated space within your community that points members to essential parts of your space and encourages them to participate. Many admins who have already set theirs up are seeing big bumps in member engagement.

Here are some of the features in the Server Guide that might boost your member activity.
➡️ Welcome Sign: A custom message from you to new members, placed at the top.

New Member To Do's 3-5 next steps for new members that get them talking and participating in your community.

Resources: Declutter your server by turning read-only channels into fancy, easy-to-digest pages with images you upload (so make sure to upload an image) Another perk: Members land at the top of these Resource pages instead of the bottom of a message thread, and message bars and avatars are removed so it looks cleaner. Otherwise, your content, embeds, media, and formatting stay the same.

That’s not all. 2 more updates to make moderation better!

🤖 Automod for Profiles
Sometimes bad actors set their display names in a way that breaks the rules. Automod will allow you to block specific language in a member's profile, preventing them from interacting with others in your community until they update their profile.

Instead of removing all reactions from a post or individually deleting them, you can select the emojis you want to remove.

Hey @everyone… Bored Box Summer continues with some fun news. We’ve loaded the Boredom Store with 28 items that can be obtained with Boredom points. This in addition to some of the existing items already on the shelves. The new items come from a variety of games in development and live, including Rumble Kong League, Aradena Battlegrounds, Mighty Action Heroes, Legends and Legions (Azra Games), and World of Sipher.

Friend Servers are invite-only spaces designed to discuss, connect, and share with your friends or smaller groups. Invite links in Friend servers will expire at a maximum of 30 days, though previously created non-expiring links will remain active and functional.

💠Community Server
Community Servers are spaces designed for people to share, connect, and learn from others all over the world who share common interests. Moderators in Community Servers have access to tools like Server Insights, Raid Protection, Rules, and Onboarding.

Becoming a Community Server does not mean that anyone can find or join your server. Prospective members have to be sent an invite link.

💠Updating Server Badging
In order for users to know what type of server they’re in, we’ve introduced badges for Community Servers.

Hi @everyone we’ve got some fun announcements coming in the next few weeks and today we wanted to share one of them. This is a sneak preview of a new product in the Bored Box ecosystem, lovingly called…CARTRIDGES.

Like our Boxes, The Genesis and B64, Cartridges will also act as memberships to the Bored Box community that earn Boredom, provide access to game items, previews, and events.

While Bored Box started off as a premium product for players who were limited on time, our goal has always been to expand the number of players in our community. Cartridges will be a far more accessible membership that continues to help us ensure the quality of our members (real gamers!) but with a more affordable price tag. The premium benefits and scarcity of Boxes will continue to exist.

We are going to share more specific details about Cartridges in the near future, but here are some key points to be aware of today.
Cartridges will come with the same community benefits of Boxes
Boredom accumulation will be proportional to the price (Bored Boxes will remain a much more scarce item and have higher Boredom generation benefits)
From a visual standpoint, Cartridges will have a consistent template, but you will find that we’ll be releasing a far greater variety of themes for Cartridges, including branded editions that are created through key partnerships.

Next week we’ll be announcing the first edition of our Cartridge which will be an exciting partnership. In June, we will offer more details on styles, pricing, and more.

Since 2015, every Discord username has been cAsE sEnSitIvE and had a number attached to it called a discriminator (e.g., #0001). This lets you have the same username as someone else as long as you have different discriminators or different case letters. However, this also means you have to remember a set of 4-digit numbers and account for case sensitivity to connect with your friends.

✨We wanted to make it easier for you to identify and add your friends while preserving your ability to use your preferred name across Discord. So, we are removing discriminators and introducing new, unique usernames and display names. ✨

💠 New usernames are lowercase, alphanumeric, limited to certain special characters, and do not have discriminators, making them easier to remember, read, type, and share. Now, rather than having to remember “PhiBi#8936,” you just say “I'm phibiscool” and that’s it. Your new username will be unique to you, and when friends try to add you there won’t be any mistakes of the wrong discriminator or incorrect letter casing.

💠 Display names are what’s shown both to your friends and in communities. Think of them as server nicknames that work globally across Discord. You can change it whenever you want, and it can be whatever you want, including special characters, as long as it follows our Community Guidelines https://discord.com/guidelines. If a username you were eyeing gets taken before you can claim it, no worries — you can still use it as a display name.

📩 When you’re eligible to change your old username and claim a new username, you’ll be notified in-app. The older your Discord account, the sooner you will become eligible to pick a new username.

Update on Evaverse: Boredboard holders are receiving 400 per board owned.

Working with the Battlebound game studio team we're excited to share that Boredboard holders from their first game "Evaverse" (featured in our @Genesis box) will be receiving special access and other OG benefits to their new game in development "Project A". However with "Project A" still in early development these benefits won't come to life for some time.

Obviously not every game (even playable) ultimately succeeds but at Bored Box we feel strongly that should NOT be something our players have to worry about. So to help provide some fun to Boredboard holders in our community we've dropped 400 per board owned into your Bored Box accounts (wallet ID holding the boredboards).

1. All @B64 owners are on the tier 1 whitelist for B64 partner Sparkadia's upcoming free mint.
   The Ascended Kana skin is worth grabbing tomorrow during the WL mint as it will grant you early access to their first game - coming this summer Sparkball.

Game summary: Sparkadia's first game, Sparkball, is a high-action ‘mobrawler’, affectionately described as League of Legends meets Rocket League. It features two teams of four battling it out as whimsical heroes in super-fast WASD combat while simultaneously working together to score the ball into the enemy goal.

Mint Details: Mint begins Thursday at 15:00 UTC (8:00am PST) on Magic Eden. Currently the mint is on ETH please follow the Sparkadia discord announcements as the team is working on solutions to combat high gas fees.

The Community voted and #hearthstone has been added to the PLAY NOW channels - for those who play or want to learn check out the new channel - say hi to @​ipez the channel lead, post " !hearthstone " to grab the discord role and look for fun opportunities to play together and earn in the coming weeks.

Introducing “Play Now” channels in the Bored Box discord.

What’s New:
We’ve added the “Play Now” channel category where community members can create specific game channels to share tips & clips, compete and team up. Game channel activity will earn the players within [B] rewards to be distributed in tournaments and other events. That’s right, when you talk about and play your favorite games you'll earn Boredom.

How to create a game channel:
Go to the ⁠new-game-request channel and fill out our form (below) to apply to get a game channel submitted to the community. The community will then vote (via emoji) if they’d participate in the proposed channel. New channels will only get created if at least 10 community members vote for it. The creator of the channel will also be granted the “game lead” discord role. We recommend finding 3-4 friends who want to participate in the new channel before requesting.

What is a “game lead”?
Every game will have at least one “game lead” from the community. Leads receive 100[B] upon the creation of a new game channel they’ve requested along with 10[B] per week and 10% of the [B] rewards earned via game channel player activity. These benefits are a thank you from the Bored Box team for their work organizing alpha tests, tournaments, news and general memelordship.

Hey @everyone! We've got a new partnership this week with the upcoming game Rogue Nation, a free-to-play mobile-first cross-platform Rogue-lite Action RPG (ARPG). Players create and collect unique characters, pets, weapons, and more to take on difficult dungeons, raids, and other players.
