Playing by the rules

We are a legally registered entity in the United States, which means - we are paying taxes, 99% of the crypto cowboys in this space are NOT. We do not have the luxury of joyriding liquidity. Furthermore, those who speak about staking and those who have experienced NFT staking know this - it is NOT sustainable, and merely a means to ignite temporary participation. What happens when you're out of liquidity? It took the apes years to develop a mechanic for their token with a bagged up legal team. Legal repercussions are catching up to web3 and we'd rather be above it than below it. We are NOT a security and we do not want to be scrutinized under that light.

Products

When it comes to products, as previously mentioned, it is our proof of concept for the larger audience. Members here receive benefits through early access and discounts. Please know this, you are not obligated to purchase anything. Product activations are our way of marketing. This is a web2 play. We have more than 20+ items in the pipeline, which I am fairly confident is more than any other NFT project has released/allocated resources to. If you look at marketing in the real world, it is now driven by influencer shills for free products. We are approaching this strategically and positioning ourselves for larger real estate. The more visibility we bring to Kitaro World, the more value our assets hold. Don't focus on influencer John shilling Kitaro, imagine Target shilling Kitaro.

Spaces + Community

We’ve managed to schedule and coordinate 2-3 spaces per week, w/ a focus on collaborative events to expand our partnership footprint. This is only the beginning of a larger vocal presence.

Domo will be attending NFT LA/NFT NYC alongside other members to spread the good word of Kitaro. If you will be as well, let us know and we'll swag you up.

Partnerships

Our horizontal growth within web2 partnerships brings more visibility across more market sectors. This is marketing 101 for those who understand reach and multi-demographical interest. As with products, we have multiple partnerships in the pipeline, strategically positioned for activation.

Part 1

Hope you, yours and the forest are doing well! As always, I like to start these announcements off with a warm welcome to all new members of Kitaro World!

I am starting this dialogue pre-facing that this will be more intimate and unfiltered than usual, as I believe it is prudent for newcomers of the space to receive the education as well.

I'm not a historical "crypto" guy by any means but I understand and research market analysis quite well. When you zoom in on something, it is easy to find "something" that aligns with your prerogative. When you zoom out and view macro economics as a whole, you see all of the contributing factors that now influence your view. I encourage you to take a step back and change your vantage point so that you have ALL the data you need to support your position.

WE are experiencing economic turmoil across all sectors. This ENTIRE space is experiencing the same market sentiments. The pioneers of web3 are down nearly 80-90% from ATHs. This is the time that MOST projects can/will crack because they are forced to succumb to holder demands. It's an emotional game as much as it is strategic. We have ALWAYS communicated that we are web2 first and our roadmap comes first. In the same parallel, we do not have any issues taking feedback from the community and pivoting, as we have shown to do, but I will NOT allow bullies to be bullies.

IF you are a holder, you have a direct line of communication to me. You are one ticket away from my inbox. For anyone who has opened a ticket, they can attest to our level of detail/urgency when it comes to handling individual concerns. I highly support and embrace community dialogue - I think its important that multiple viewpoints are demonstrated, you just have to be OPEN to hearing it. Put your pride aside.

We all share a common kinship for Kitaro and we want to see it succeed. That comes with trust, patience and a strong salesforce. YOU ALL are a beacon of light for this forest and genuine stewards of the brand. If you look at a business, you have a sales team that helps them succeed. Holders in web3 are the salesforce. WE, as a brand will continue to create a safe and successful foundation for you to exercise your voice and actions. Additionally, as a web2 centric brand, know that we exercise centralized fundamentals WITH decentralized mechanics. This means, the team LEADS and we embrace/support community lead initiatives.

Marketing

This seems to be the talk of the town from experienced holders. Marketing right now, when we are being tested at a global scale would be outright irresponsible. I'll say this again, you do NOT market an NFT project, you market a brand. Doodles made this realization after they made it. We made this realization before embarking on this journey. Understanding the space you are in and people you are up against is critical for the overall success of this brand. We are positioning ourselves during this time. The larger marketing initiative will come and that is NOT to be confused with the marketing already happening.

Let's be real and back to market data. Hundreds of new "nft projects" launch daily with the same standard NFT blueprint. Hundreds of those projects will simply not make it. It is the truth. For those who have launched a project, you know how difficult it is. We are literally competing against competitors in the most saturated market ever. We are ALL the same product in this little room fighting for shelf space. Only a few get to where we are and even fewer succeed, which is why we need to be exercise more patience and understand that there are other ways to be successful. Everything we do is for the betterment of the ecosystem and it shouldn't be valued any less if it doesn't align with what some see as the perfect NFT playbook.

4) How can you help?
As individual contributors, I think we all have something we can bring to the table. We sometimes forget that we have complementing professions. If you want to be a part of our growth, we welcome it. As I mentioned, you are the links to a successful project. Let us know how you want to help and we will always consider it.

We all can do our part by continuing to shed light on the forest. Let's empower our fellow artists to continuing creating. Let's continue building relationships and embracing new collaborations. When we win, you win.

Looking ahead…

I think there is a lot we can improve on, especially when it comes to providing a more detailed view of what our forecasting looks like. Over the next few weeks, we will develop a more elaborate brand roadmap so that you all have a better understanding of what's to come. We will also revisit prior activations and expand on their future aspirations. We've always led with transparency and will continue to do so, this includes sharing relevant sales numbers, community funding, etc.

⚡ Part 1

(Long thread warning, do not drive and read)

I want to first start off by welcoming everyone new to the forest! You've got a lot to catch up on! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask the community. We're here to make your onboarding experience as painless as possible. Shoutout to our holders for continuing to champion this project. Your efforts do not go unnoticed!

This brings me to my next series of passages.

I've tuned into every spaces. I want to acknowledge that I see you and I hear you, so I think it's prudent that we continue this conversation with further insight and transparency.

We've accomplished a lot during the bear market and have proven that Kitaros are resilient. Listings continue to decrease without inorganic and trivial "delisting" campaigns. This is a testament of strength to our holders. This is demonstrated conviction for the brand. This says a lot. Numbers don't lie.

Since the inception of Kitaro World, we made it a point to communicate that we were/are web2 first. It is easier to plan and forecast a web2 brand than it is to web3. In a landscape that continues to evolve, we are constantly tested on our abilities to adapt. Because of this unpredictable terrain, we have to navigate carefully - and that means slowing down when others are speeding up. When you have a vision, you establish the foundation for others to build alongside you. WE are building the foundation to ensure that it can sustain future growth.

I've observed some really great questions that deserves more talk time-

1) Are we gonna make it?
No one can answer that. Everyday, we're fighting to remain relevant. We're faced with hundreds of new projects further diluting the NFT ecosystem.

Let's rephrase this question to "What are we doing to make it?"

There's a balance of responsibility as a project founder and it is extremely important that we put our vision first. As a web2 centric brand, we're able to forecast and budget 1, 2 and even 3 years out - which makes the project more sustainable overall. In web3, we simply can't, due to its unpredictable nature. We're building a brand for everyone and that is what makes us strong, keeps us relevant. We're building parallel foundations to strengthen our core. We're focused on the 99% rather than the 1%. The grand plan isn't just in my head, it's a culmination of minds keeping the vehicle in motion with a clear path of where its headed.

2) Main Character Energy
I thought this was a good one. YOU are the main character of this narrative because YOU are Kitaro. We are all individual contributors working together - that's what makes a team. A successful project is highly dependent on their holders. At the end of the day, the formula is very simple. We've created the world and we empower you to build upon it, alongside us.

We've created a brand that can be identifiable by one character, token #1 but holds the weight of 7,777. Most projects are collection focused, we're character focused - leading with one iconic character and driven by a rich storyline that strategically extends out to you all. As holders, you own your IP and that is where the magic starts.

3) Wen Marketing?
You don't market a NFT collection. You market a brand. Kitaro World is our brand and that is something we continue to showcase. Products and experiences are proof of concepts for the larger delivery. The broader and more extensive marketing will come. We're currently building our position. I've always said, product marketing is our strong suit. We're going after larger retails and creating more meaningful opportunities for the community of holders.

I wanted to provide some updates in case you missed our recent spaces with NiftyKit and clear up some confusion regarding Opensea Royalties. We were initially directed to update our creator earnings on Opensea, which had been written on the blockchain. We were under the impression that those signatures constituted as on-chain enforcement but unfortunately, that isn't the case.

Our developers at NiftyKit are actively looking into a solution. Meanwhile, as a team, we are actively looking into doing what we do best, pivoting strategies.

If you're in other communities experiencing the same challenges and have been able to come up with a solution, please share it with us. We're in this together and we can all win.

I'd like to share a feeling I manifested a few months back, which now feels more like a cultivation of emotions. When we first started Kitaro World, it was a VIBE. The energy from the art and the vision is simply indescribable. It's euphoric. It's exultant. It's a feeling that brings us all together, which is why we chose to envision it much larger than just a web3 platform - but a global brand for everyone to enjoy. Today, it's a much bigger vibe and we'll continue doing our best for others to experience the same when they join us in the forest.

Fast forward to today, we understand it's important to maintain velocity. It's the simple science of keeping an object in motion. We've met some great Kats throughout this journey and we try our best to grow from within.

The auditions have concluded. The final cast for our first 5 part series coloring book will be revealed next Katurday! Yory dropped a bit of alpha on the selection process in the chat. Looking forward to this next activation!

Trait Flippenings
As mentioned last week, mouth trait flips have commenced. Traits that had obstructing companions were flipped from right to left. Additionally, it was decided that all mouth traits should hold uniformities and face the same direction as the other mouth traits, so the final traits, including wands and swords will be flipped over the weekend. As we stage our collection for success, it's important that not only do we look aesthetically appealing, we showcase our abilities to construct a cohesive character set/attribute library.

I hope you're all doing well! For anyone new to the forest, welcome to the magical side!

There's a topic of interest that has been floating around the forest for some time that we'd like to take a moment to address - and, also get your feedback on.

The hat trait can be improved, which we 1000% understand and resonate with. The hats were designed as such to emulate a 25 degree turn that provided the illusion of some depth, but we understand it doesn't go well for a majority of Kitaros. Therefore, we've designed a new cap that we would like to suggest a refresh on.

Before we get deep into it, I would like to expand on what Kitaro means to us and the reason this refresh is warranted. With the premise of holders owning/utilizing IP, we want their assets to be the best possible versions they can be. After all, once we set our kats free into the wild, there's no turning back. There's a fine marriage between web2/web3 that I think we should all consider. I understand that some may oppose to the idea, given that ""changing" this would go against the "web3 ethos". HOWEVER, we came into this space with a mindset that these characters would be driven by forces from every direction, not just one. So, because we walk the line between both worlds, we want to open up this decision to the community so that we can decide together - and, walk the path together. Everyone knows, we operate out of full transparency and we pivot based on the wants/needs of the community, as well as the betterment of the overall ecosystem.

Coffee Books will be released in phases

Phase 1 - Participant Claims - anyone who is holding a kitaro that is part of the book will be eligible to claim a free book
Phase 2 - Coffee Book Artifact Holders - holders of a scene with a coffee book artifact will be eligible to claim a free book
Phase 3 - Holders of a Kitaro World NFT will become eligible to purchase a book at a discounted rate
Phase 4 - Holders of a Scenes NFT will become eligible to purchase a book at a discounted rate
Phase 5 - Remaining supply (if any) open to public at public pricing

INFO: For those new to the Kitaro World ecosystem, Pudgy provided a very good explanation on Twitter re: the various types of activations currently available.

"Cats and Coffee" is considered a COMMUNITY ACTIVATION. A community activation simply means: all revenue raised (net sales) is directly distributed to the community treasury to be used for community led initiatives. We do not keep anything as these activations are meant to empower the brand and holders, collectively.

I've also observed some candid discussions around web 1 + 2 and what it means to everyone. I'd like to provide my feedback and overall view on this subject.

🧠 The creation and inception of Kitaro World originated on the blockchain, so to say we aren't web3 would falsify our true identity. Our mantra is web2 first, metaverse second and that has always been the blueprint. What many do not realize are the costs and resources associated with development work, especially digital infrastructure. It is just not good use of capital expenditure.

Web3, decentralization and the metaverse continues to be a foreign landscape for many - we still exist in its infancy. Let's let those big brains do what they do best and we will adopt and celebrate their innovations alongside them, when ready.

The goal is to adopt web2 fundamentals while exploring web3 technology. Let's not forget, we are building a brand that is far from limited to the blockchain. As we solidify our position and establish our brand identity, web3 will follow suit and compliment our activations. Our store is token-gated. Our experiences will be token-gated. Having a wider spectrum of web2 products/experiences to showcase a web3 injected beast will give us some muscle to flex. We are only limited by our imagination and our imagination is anything but limited.
