Dear Quantum Fam.

After a great deal of deliberation, I have had to take the difficult decision to step down from Quantum as CTO and co-founder.

These last 18 months have had some ups and downs along with the market sentiment, but on the whole have been a lot of fun. I have enjoyed working with the team, and my engineering team in particular have shown an immense capability for delivering cutting edge products, most notably seen with last years' QSLA IRL credit-card minting tech.. a world first that sadly was under acknowledged.

Recent extra-curricular interests have taken me in a much more tech focussed direction that is now incompatible with Quantum's desire to just sell photography. The Web3 space is alive and buzzing, and I have put off for far too long other ideas and interests that, as a typical tech nerd, I have developed in my own time.

Upon laying off half of the team over the last month or so, I had hoped that Quantum could find its feet again, and hopefully with our new curation team, and narrow focus on curated art only, this might still be the case. I still believe that Quantum could have a bright future under the correct leadership.

All the best, and thank you for supporting Quantum since our launch.

Quantum Space LA
We opened our doors in June of 2022 and since then, we've learned a lot about what works and what doesn't work. Unfortunately one of our biggest learnings is that a majority of our keyholders reside outside of LA. Some hoped for additional locations outside of LA and others purchased to speculate on our success.

However, in the current state of the market, renting the space and running it in a high traffic area with little IRL participation has become costly to the business. This means that we are unfortunately communicating the closure of QSLA at the end of January.

This does not mean an end to keyholder benefits. Instead, we hope to refocus our efforts to where our keyholders are. Our priorities this year will focus on more drops and pop up events wherever Quantum travels to.

Whilst the news to close QSLA will be disappointing, there are a number of things happening and lined up for keyholders.

Please be assured that we're not giving up on keyholders, but we're looking to deliver value in more useful ways, our priorities this year will focus on more drops and pop up events wherever Quantum travels to.

Quantum 2023 Updates

Hello @everyone Quantum Community!

As we start 2023, I wanted to share with you what Quantum has planned for this year, our vision, our focus, and what we have lined up so far.

It's been just over a year since Quantum launched, and we have had incredible support from both collectors and artists.

Our new projects, Quantum Studio and Quasars, have been fantastic developments, however Quantum's heart lies in providing a platform for artists to share their work. Keeping this in mind, I would like to share a few updates with you.

Firstly, a little on our planned direction, Quantum is going to be working towards a vision of being seen as ‘the’ photography brand in the NFT market. Photography, and digital art derived from photos or collages that are lens-based will be our main areas of focus.

In addition to curating and working with some of the best artists out there, we also intend to identify and support lesser-known artists in order for them to find their place in the NFT marketplace.

Quantum Studio
Our platform is well underway and the first drops are on January 16th! We have some fantastic artists lined up and are excited to launch with them.

As we look to roll out wider access, we will be putting in place an approach for formal submission of work by artists for consideration to be included on the platform. More to follow on this!

Quasars
We have decided to split Quasars out from Quantum to sit as its own operation and team, with Quantum as a stakeholder in this. In line with Quantum's planned direction, this allows the Quasars project to move forward as needed and reach the audiences that will engage the most with it.

So you will soon see Quasars move out of our Discord into its own server.

To be clear, promises made regarding free mint for Keyholders, allow lists etc will still stand and further details will follow nearer the mint.
